John H. Murphy

John H. Murphy
County Auditor
John Murphy has been the elected Auditor of St. Joseph County, Indiana for the past three years. Prior to this, John served as Chief Deputy Auditor for five years. John is the former Controller for the City of South Bend and Finance Director for Cass County, Michigan.
John is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in accounting. He also holds a master’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University and a master’s degree in community and economic development from Penn State.
John has been active in the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) as a budget reviewer and committee member. He has also served on the Municipal Employee’s Retirement System of Michigan (MERS) board of trustees.
Abby Doyle

Abby Doyle
Abby Doyle is the Chief Deputy Auditor for St. Joseph County, bringing more than a decade of experience in public finance, budgeting, and administrative support to county leadership and management teams. In Abby’s role, she plays a central part in overseeing financial operations, contributing to strategic planning, and supporting transparent governance.
Abby holds a Master’s degree in Accounting from Colorado State University and is serving on the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Budget Committee.
Steve Dalton

Steve Dalton
Steve Dalton has three decades of professional experience, including small business ownership, real estate, construction and finance. He is a registered municipal advisor principal with the Securities and Exchange Commission and serves our municipal clients on finance-related matters, including bond financing.
Steve specializes in transforming figures and projections into actionable presentations to assist elected officials and other leaders in making confident decisions for annual budgeting, cash flow projections, revenue projections, circuit breaker projections, debt structuring, cost allocation, capital planning and more. Staying current in Indiana’s changing municipal finance landscape is critical, and Steve assists clients in navigating their unique challenges, from circuit breaker caps to compliance and disclosure requirements.
Steve is a former president of the Porter County Builders Association and is an active member of the Northwest Indiana community, having served on the boards for several nonprofit organizations.
